Terms of Use – Books Beats

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Book Beats mobile application (“the App”), developed and operated by Casey Doyle, trading as Olea Studios (“we”, “our”, or “us”). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms.
1. Use of the App
Book Beats provides tools for discovering books and music, including curated collections, AI-generated playlists, and reading summaries. You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You may not misuse the App, attempt to disrupt its functionality, reverse engineer, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the App or its systems.
2. Subscriptions (Encore)
Certain features of the App may require a paid subscription (“Encore”). Subscriptions are processed through Apple’s App Store and are subject to Apple’s payment terms. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You may manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with the App Store’s refund policies. We do not have access to Apple’s billing system and cannot issue refunds directly.
3. Apple Music Integration
The App may integrate with Apple Music to display albums, artists, and playlists. Using these features requires an active Apple Music account and permission granted through your device. Apple Music services are provided by Apple and are governed by Apple’s own terms and policies.
4. AI-Generated Content
Some features of the App generate playlists, summaries, or other content using artificial intelligence. AI-generated content is provided for informational and entertainment purposes only and may occasionally contain inaccuracies. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of AI-generated content.
5. Content and Data Sources
The App may display book, music, and related metadata sourced from third-party providers, including services such as ISBNdb and Apple Music. These services provide information used to populate book descriptions, artist data, albums, and related content. We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of third-party data and are not responsible for errors or omissions originating from those external sources.
6. Affiliate Links
The App may include links to third-party retailers such as Amazon or Bookshop.org. If you choose to purchase a product through these links, we may receive a small affiliate commission at no additional cost to you. We are not responsible for the content, products, or services provided by third-party websites.
7. Intellectual Property
All software, design elements, branding, and original content within the App are owned by or licensed to the developer of Book Beats and are protected by copyright and other laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from the App without prior written permission.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the App for unlawful purposes, attempt to disrupt the App’s operation, scrape data from the App, or attempt to bypass security or subscription features.
9. Disclaimer of Professional Advice
Content provided by the App, including summaries, recommendations, or playlists, is intended for informational and entertainment purposes only and should not be considered professional advice of any kind.
10. Limitation of Liability
The App is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of the App or reliance on its content.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the App if these Terms are violated or if the App is discontinued.
12. Apple Licensed Application End User License Agreement
If the App is downloaded from the Apple App Store, your use of the App is also subject to the Apple
Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Apple Standard EULA). If there is any
conflict between these Terms and the Apple Standard EULA, the Apple Standard EULA will prevail

13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated versions will be posted with a revised “Last updated” date.
